The first weekend of February marked the first weekend of college baseball for Ohio college baseball. Ohio’s most southern team, Shawnee State, went to the deep south to take on Southern Polytechnic State University. Playing a doubleheader on Friday and a single game on Saturday, the Bears left Marietta with a series win led by first baseman Danny Gesick. Gesick’s big weekend provides hope that the senior will return to his 2010 All-American level after a down 2011 to lead Shawnee State.
