It’s hard to believe, but as you may have noticed the season is officially under way. Within a week or so we will have plenty of games to talk about. In the meantime though, I thought we could hold everyone over with some quick hitters from the small college world.
What do we have for you this time? The Gordon Gecko of the OAC. Transfer news. Revamped websites. A fresh batch of previews. Check it out.
- Heidelberg’s Everett Thomas isn’t just a key part of a winning team on the field, he’s a key to a winning team off it as well. The senior pitcher and business administration major was part of the investment research team which claimed first place at the CFA Institute Global Investment Research Challenge. Bankers and brokers should be taking note that Thomas would not only be a great addition to their company as a financial mind, but also as a ringer on the company softball team. Click here to read more about the Berg’s besting of much larger schools in the event.
- What we heard months ago can now be officially confirmed: former Ohio Northern pitcher Justin Miller transferred to Notre Dame College for his junior season. The All-OAC selection at ONU is listed on the Falcons’ 2010 roster. That’s a big blow to ONU as Miller would have unquestionably been the Bears’ ace.
- Ashland University has posted their 2010 preview. For anyone not familiar with the Eagles this is a good read. For those already familiar this is a good way to remind yourself that this should be a fun spring. Either way, you should check it out here.
- Right on cue, Findlay and Lake Erie College also posted their 2010 previews. The bottom line is that by the end of the day no one has an excuse to be behind on their DII knowledge. With the season already starting it’s time for a crash course if you haven’t read them already.
- As someone who looks at these schools’ websites daily I was very happy to see that Walsh has upgraded their athletics page. The old format was outdated and, honestly, kind of hard on the eyes…literally (the font was small). This is a major improvement and for this I thank the good folks at Walsh. Clean, clear and much easier to use. Check out the new and improved baseball page.
- I’m adding this some 10 hours after I originally posted this, but I felt like I needed to. Check out Muskingum’s new digital media guide. Not only can you page through the actual media guide like a pdf file, but it’s interactive. You can select players to compare season and career stats. Very cool.
