It did. Mount won the All Sports trophy 80.5-79.5 after ONU garnered only 1 point for finishing last in baseball. Mount had 7.25 points in baseball.

In the 11 mens sports ONU had three OAC titles, four runner-up finishes, a 3rd place and a couple 4th places. And 10th in baseball. That’s just not going to fly in Ada.

The latest being a special section coverage of local Spring Sports that featured a cover story, including pictures of players, and interviews of the players. It was a first class recognition of the coach, team and individual players and I would like to commend them for their coverage of the Heidelberg Baseball team.

Seems like most will throw in the local college’s box scores at best. The only exception I can think of is the Ytown Vindicator does occasionally have a YSU baseball feature. The Record-Courier probably has Kent stories too, but I don’t know that for sure. D3? Good luck.

That’s a testament to what Englander has done. He’s built enough quality depth to consistently win. That’s hard to do. The test now will be to do what Palm did. The Berg could hit, but he recruited and developed higher caliber pitching. That’s what elevates programs. That’s why Marietta and Wooster are always good. If Case can develop their staff to anywhere near the level of their offense they will be very dangerous.

Heidelberg went to the D3 World Series in 2010. Not even a whisper in the PD. Several local players on the team were “ALL AMERICAN”, again, not a clue in the PD. Even when THE BERG was ranked Pre-season #1 in the country for 2011, the silence was deafening. Again, the best of luck on an AWESOME season.
